We love the natural environment. Visit any of our hotels and you’ll see we embrace it in everything we do. When it comes to making a positive impact on the environment, it’s important we go even further by embracing new ecological innovations…
Which is why we’re excited to announce the installation of two highly efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems at our Haven and Sandbanks hotels, making FJB the only hotelier in Poole to embrace this exciting technology!
CHP systems use fuel very efficiently, providing electricity and heat at a combined efficiency approaching 90%. Compare that to the 30-35% efficiency of conventional electricity and a typical boiler’s seasonal efficiency averaging 60% to 65%, it’s clear converting to CHP is the natural choice. Using fuel in this way makes CHP not only more efficient and environmentally friendly, but also much more cost-effective.
Together, the CHP systems will produce up to 3,326,917kwh of total energy per annum, whilst saving up to 472 tonnes of CO2. That’s equivalent to taking 100 cars off the road each year.
Alongside making our energy work more efficiently, we’re also members of the Green Positive Environmental Action Scheme (Green PEA). Run by the Borough of Poole, the Green PEA’s aim is to reduce emissions by 20% by 2020, and we’re proud to contribute towards this target by bringing our activities in line with expert recommendations.
